    Hi,

I shot footage on a Canon XF 305 camera at 50 Mbps 1280×720, exported the MXF clips from the Canon XF Utility, and tried to bring them into an Avid MC 6.5.3 project that was set at 720p/25 and received the above message

the edit rate of the clip (50.000000) does not match the project edit rate site (25.000000).

Is there a way to still bring these clips into the project? Avid MC does not have a 720p/50 project setting and the XF 305 does not have a 1280×720 25Mbps setting, but there must be a way to bring this type of clips into an Avid project.

    Thanks in advance,

    Paul

I’m pretty sure MC does have a 720/50 project option. Try creating a new project.

Unfortunately, there is not 720/50 project option. I don’t really understand why.

Here is what I see when creating a new project, and 720p/50 is definitely there. But it is unfortunate that Media Composer still doesn’t have a 1080p/50 and 1080p/59.94 project type. For now you need to choose between resolution and frame rate. If you want all 50 progressive frames to edit on, then choose 720 (reducing resolution) or choose 1080i/50 where each frame becomes a field reducing vertical resolution by half and editing on ever other “frame”.

Open clips in 720/50… Then create your 25p project.
Then open the 720/50 bin in the 25p project … Avid will
Then handle all conversions for you.
