The ‘Blu-Ray’ Issue…
For me the release of FCS2 was a huge event, finally I could use one of these ‘swiss-army-knife-post-suites’ that I had always fancied once they got ‘Pro’ enough. No more would I need enough computers for a moon landing, just to get from edit to DVD with a bit of motion graphics. No more bloody DA88 decks and most importantly.. on a frikken laptop!!
I suppose short of tele-porting pizza and beer into my office, FCS3 was always going to have a job making as big a big bang as FCS2 did for me.
However, there is no hiding it; expected, predicted, dictated or not, the lack of a ‘proper’ blu-ray solution has led many, me included, to indulge in a bit of toy throwing.
Now that I have had time to read around a bit more, my initial worries are lifting somewhat.
Watching the ripple training folk’s ‘share’ video perked me up. Chapter and title menus are there and are easily customizable. With the template system being XML, it will be no trouble making your own and i would expect someone will be out with a WYSIWYG plugin sytem for it within a matter of months if not weeks.
Combine this with something along the lines of BluStreak Premaster and your getting everything and more than encore or dvditpro can do for less than the price of either!
That $299 is sounding more and more like a bargain.
Oh and TIMECODE WINDOW!! YAY!!
