  “The AVI file is not of the expected format” ERROR message…

  Bought a new PC.

  -Installed AE7 & re-opened a project made earlier in AE 6.5.
  -I had to reload footage since files were on a new drive.
  -It either crashed, or other times opened them but mentioned “The AVI file is not of the expected format” (-2147205018) (53 :: 33)
  -Tried to reload images (PSD, JPG) and even audio files (WAV) and the SAME “AVI not expected” error message pops up again, and doesn,t load it…
  -Freaked out since I got DO this project now.
  -Uninstalled AE7 figuring there was a transition bug between the 2 versions.
  -Downgraded by installing my AE 6.5
  -SAME problem happens now………..

  Note: all independent files play perfectly well in Media Player. Pics open elsewhere too.

  What in the name is going on???

  Additional info:

  -Got a NVIDIA EN7800GTX card (tried to upgrade firmware V 81.94 but get an error message on setup: “The NVIDIA setup program could not locate drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Set up will now exit”.

  -ASUS A8N-E board: firmware upgraded ok.

  -Got XP w/ SP1 & 2
