June 22, 2010 at 9:45 pmA good thing to do is to set an In and an out point on the section of music in the timeline, then press “Shift” and “\” keys to loop playback between those in and out points, and then as it is playing, shut your eyes listen to the music loop a couple of times and then press the “M” key on the beats, this will create markers on the beats where you pressed the M key, then you can align the clips you want to put in with those markers.
Best,

June 23, 2010 at 12:48 pmThe best way to sync video to music is to first lay the music track on the timeline. Play the song and while you are listening to it hit the * key (this is the keyboard shortcut in premiere) to set a timeline marker to the beat of the bass drum. A typical song will produce 200-300 markers. Now you can begin to add your video clips to the timeline. Trim each clip to snap to the marker and now your final product will roll to the beat of the music.

June 24, 2010 at 8:56 amIf you are cutting between several overlapping clips, you could look into MultiCam.
Refer to your manual, or look around these forums for more info.
Basically MultiCam will allow you to switch between clips by tapping the beat on the numerical keys on you keyboard.
I find it a fun way to edit. -

June 15, 2012 at 1:45 pmJust use Ableton Live with your selected clips and you’ll have the beat grid you need to do everything in sync with the audio. I use it also for audio production but it can be used for video as well. It doesn’t support any video effect at the moment unless you use Max for live plugins from Cycling ’74 (e.g. vizzable or v-module).

May 19, 2013 at 4:17 pmI produce a number of music videos, in which case, I have to sync the audio track with the clips and this is exactly the format I use when editing. I also use it when I’m working on a TV promo, show or movie where I want to cut to the music bed. It’s one of the most effective ways to insure that you are actually hitting your mark.
