Text Toolbar Might be Offscreen
Sorry if this has been covered, but I’m having a problem with the text toolbar in vegas, which I thought I had accidentally dragged offscreen. Having tried to change the resolution and restored default settings, I can’t get it back. So I’m wondering if there’s another problem.
When I place a text plate into the timeline and click on the ‘media generator’ icon on the plate the vegas window flashes like it’s loaded it, but then the toolbar doesn’t appear. Whilst I am certain I accidentally dragged it offscreen, the fact that I have been unable to retrieve it leads me to think otherwise.

Try using View | Window Layouts | Default layout. See if that fixes it. If not… read on:
You might need to do a complete rest of Vegas to get your windows back. This will wipe out any preferences you have changed so only use this as a last resort. Hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys while launching Vegas. It will ask you if you want to reset to factory defaults. Click Yes and Vegas will be reset to the settings it had the first day it was installed including all of the window locations. Don’t forget to go back and change any preferences to the way you like them.

Thanks for the tip. However, I’ve tried that and it still hasn’t worked. What I have discovered, though, is that this applies to all media generations and not just text. Are there any other methods I could try to get it back?

Check all of your docking areas. It may have gotten docked and it’s hiding as a tab behind another docked window. Other than that, I’m out of ideas. Doing a complete Shift+start reset usually works.
