    Hello,

Does anyone know of a text/subtitle/title recognition plug-in for Final Cut Pro.

I need to log the timecode of all text/titles in a project and was hoping to avoid logging each one manually! 🙂

If there is not a plug-in for FCP, do you know of any other solution, standalone or otherwise, that can recognize text and log the timecodes?

    Thanks.

    Tim

If all of the text is on a single track, you could export an EDL for that track.

Unfortunately, this is not a project in FCP. The source is a final master on tape, we need to log instances of text in program and I was hoping there was a way to do this in FCP, or by other means, that works in sort of the same way as scene detection.

Scene detection is relatively easy and useful. I don’t know why anyone would bother trying to write a plugin for FCP that does the immensely difficult job of object and character recognition of a single composite file inside an editing app. Most people use EDLs or XMLs to extract that info from a timeline but a finished master tape?

In the time it would take to capture the tape, you would probably have half the job done by shuttling through the tape with a pen & paper. If a magic plugin existed, it might take days to analyse the program and then an operator would have to manually check everything anyway.
