    Hi,

First of all, thanks Creative Cow for all the tutorials.

I am a begginer in AfterEffects, and i have meet one problem. For ex; I have a comp of 800x400px. In that comp i want a 200×200 invs box(mask) and a text to come in to that box. The text will be displayed only when he will get step by step in to that 200x200box.
I try to make a simple mask on that text but the mask is moving with my text. I need a kind of static mask.

    Thanks a lot for help.
    Best Regards.
    Sorry for my english.

    use a track matte:

make a solid that fills your comp .. then mask out the shape on that solid… Put this above your text layer … now on the text layer, under trkMat, select “Alpha Matte” …

you can do whatever you like with the text layer and it will only ever show the area that is masked in the above layer ….

you can do lots of fun stuff with Track Mattes … if you don’t understand search for it in the help files and the cow and I’m sure you’ll find some helpful examples.
