Anyone have any experience creating text out of clouds?

I’m throwing around a demo of DTIP nature spirit, but I’m not having a ton of success. I need the text to exist in the sky as a single cloud, then split apart into individual pieces (I’ve used metaballs and had success…), and then run a camera through it and make it appear ‘whispy.’ The client is pretty hell-bent on the ‘whispy-ness.’ Should I use a shader for the text, or should I use a volumetric/fluid simulator? I’d imagine that a nice displacement shader would save render times, but not looks as fluid as a true fluid simulator.

    Suggestions? I’m kinda stumped.

I think I would approach it with thinking particles.
Use your text as the Surface Emitter with pyro cluster on the Particle Geometry as the material.
Then you could use Groups to limit what effectors hit what particles.

I have DPIT too but I am long way from making it work with consistancy.
