  Text like tracking expression

  I am doing a text animation where each character needs to be precomped for specific effects.

  I wish to be able to do a tracking animation (kerning increasing or decreasing over time) to the whole word or group of words made up of these precomped characters.

  There will be a variety of numbers of characters depending on content.

  How should I go about making an expression (or script?) to accomplish this.
