  • TEXT has jagged edges and appears to “vibrate” on screen.

I have some text made with vegas 10. small font size (20) used in a credit roll situation and also a static title.

The title looks good on the preview window, but looks very jagged and appears to have a glowing vibrate to each letter. The font color is white and the background is black.

Any Ideas as to what is going on here?

What resolution video are you working on and whats the format
    you render it out as?
(Doubling the fonts resolution if working in 720×480 media
    helps a lot)
    .

Steve, Are you referring to the generated media’s frame size?

    My rendered project is a 720 x 480.

I’m not Steve but the answer to that question is yes.
    Change 720 x 480 to 1440 x 960.
You will notice an improvement in the quality of your text.

I forgot to mention that your whites shouldn’t go over 235-235-235 and your blacks shouldn’t go below 16-16-16.
This keep things within legal limits (16-235) and should help.

Mark, switch to the Properties and Effects tabs and set the levels there.
Changing the Outline and Shadow settings may be overkill but it only takes a moment and then everything is legal.
