What I do is type the entire line and put it on the timeline.
I hold my mouse with the ctrl key to make a copy
Then I work backwards removing a letter at a time with each copy.
Be sure everything is flush left though so spacing won’t be an issue.

Hi Roger,

Thank you for putting time checking my problem out. Unfortunately, I was not able to accomplish what you recommended me to do.

I did make copies of my entire line on the timeline the way you told me to do it. Then when I started working backwards removing a letter at a time with each copy, it was automatically removing the same letter on all the other copies.

Thank you again, you don’t know how long I’ve been trying to do this and you’re the first person who ever contacted me back with help. If you can be of further assistance, it’ll be truly appreciated.
On a side note, out of curiosity I checked your name out. Great paintings and great videos! I watched a few. It put me in the mood for painting,

The easiest way to do this is to keyframe the text media like this:

1. Insert a Text Generated Media and set up the font, size, color, etc that you want.
2. Make sure you press the Left Justify button because text is center justified by default. If the text is centered it will move as you add more letters.
3. Start by typing the first letter of the text only.
4. Now make a keyframe a little further down the timeline and type the 2nd letter.
5. Make another keyframe further down the timeline and type the 3rd letter.
6. Keep making new keyframes and typing one letter at a time until your whole message is written.
7. Finally, highlight all the keyframes and right click on one and select Hold from the popup menu for the keyframe type. This will cause the letters to instantly appear at the designated keyframe.

That’s all there is to it. Add a typing sound effect and you’re all set.

Let me go over this once again which works for me.

1. make one text clip that says, Test(or whatever)
2. by using the ctrl and mouse highlight that clip and drag it to the left. Now you’ll have two copies of “Test”
3. Take the second copy and remove the lower case t. Now you’ll have two clips side by side that when run will say tes and then test.
4. Copy the “tes” clip and drag that one to the left.
5. Now you have two copies of “tes”. Take that clip and remove the “s”.

and so on.

I’ve uploaded a .veg file. Load this in Vegas and you’ll see how it 837_text.veg.zipworks.
