Text between duplicate video
Hi all,
I’ve searched and searched… I just don’t think I have the terms down…
I’m making a “neighborhood snapshot” video, in New York. And my idea was to have a taxi pass through frame, and as it passes, text is revealed.
I’ve seen this in Deja Vu, and Man on Fire. I thought I would just duplicate the video and rotoscope the top layer, so as the Taxi moves it leaves behind the Text (layer 2) and background (layer 3).
But it’s not working out. Maybe I’m doing my idea wrong. But I also suspect that there’s another way to do this.
I’m trying to get a screen capture, now. But does anyone know this effect?

No, you’re right. The way you described it should work. You just do a linear wipe on the text as the rotoscoped layer moves past. When you say it’s not working, what do you mean?
Now, you could just do a mask on the letters that matches the car and leave out the extra layer too. 🙂
