  • Text animation preset – cannot make it do same with right to left

Posted by Craig Hirshberg on June 4, 2008 at 8:04 pm

I’m having trouble with the text animator preset “character shuffle in.” Actually, shuffling in from the left works just fine and looks just the way the preset shows it in the browser in Bridge.

But I also want to use it in the exact same way, except I want it to shuffle in from the left. I’ve tried tweeking offsets, start and end ranges, etc, but the best I can do is make it just shuffle in from the left, but without the last letter crossing the first, and so on…

Isn’t there a way to fairly simply just reverse what’s going on in the preset?

    Thanks!

I’m not entirely sure how you want your text to behave. Try changing the ‘Amount’ property in the Advanced section of the preset’s Range Selector from -63% to 63% (or some other positive value). Is that what you wanted?

you need to set a new position so the characters move from the right of the screen when using the offset parameter…

twirl down the text layer properties, the the text properties, and then the animator properties. at the bottom should be a position parameter. the default value is something like 1063,0. try setting it to
-1063,0. if the other parameters have not been changed it should now slide in from the other sid of the screen.

[Kevin Camp] “the default value is something like 1063,0. try setting it to -1063,0.”

Just a note, the above should have the exact same affect as reversing the sign on the Selector’s Advanced ‘Amount’ property.

Thanks everyone! It was a combo of offest and position (within the animator parameters, not transform).

I also should have just copy/pasted the preset from the text that worked from left to right rather than start with a whole new preset – I think that was messing me up a bit too.
