  • Text animation Opacity and Layer Style Stroke

    Hi All

I’m trying to build text animation that includes:

Per Character 3d (zoom in on Z)
Per Character Rotation (Spin on Y)
    Per Opacity Change (fade in)

I’m pleased with the animation design.

But I’d like to jazz up my text with layer styles.

As soon as I add a “stroke” layer style I run into an issue where it looks as if I’ve run to a conflict where layer styles are calculated after my text animators, so the stroke doesn’t fade.

I guess this makes sense as my character anim is “sub layer” attribute and a layer style is then appplied to the whole layer.

If this were animation at the layer level, I’d precompose then at my opacity change to precomp layer….

but because it’s per character animation…..that won’t work.

Short of hand animating rasterized flats from photoshop….am I missing something.

Sorry if this belongs in the basics thread.

    Thanks….

    OK…..

so the answer is to use the stroke options in the character panel and not the stroke layer style….

    sigh…

well I hope this helps someone else!

Hi Alex. i’m running into a similar situation. I’m using a layer styles drop shadow on some text I’m adding an opacity animator to. It seems you’re right about the rendering order conflict. I looked into “Layer Knocks Out Drop Shadow.” I would’ve figured that would be the fix but I can’t get it to work properly. i know it’s been some time since you posted this…did you ever come up with a workflow?
