  • Technique for linking mask generation with live text?

Posted by Michael Garske on March 9, 2017 at 7:25 pm

    Hi everyone,

I’m creating a series of text-based templates that use red giant plugins like Tao. Since many plugins cannot be applied to a text layer directly, requiring masks, wondering if anyone knows of the technique to automatically create masks based on changes in a text layer. Possibly to live link masks on a solid layer based on characters in a text layer?

I understand it’s a simple matter to create the masks and delete old masks, but if there were a way to streamline that process it would be hugely helpful.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Saddly not. The plugin requires masks to work.

Are you wanting masks that follow a box around the text or do you want it to actually match the shape of each character?
    Either one would be tricky…

I’d like to create masks that link to each character. If the mask generation can be automated, it will help greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to modify templates.
