Hello all I’m about to join the world of graphic editing and need some advice. I’m gett a laptop with at 2.2ghz processor, 4gb of ram and a pretty decent graphics card that will play most modern games. I intend to do my video editing in Vegas pro which I know will be ok on the laptop. But can someone tell me if after effects will run ok on it? I understand it won’t be as powerful as a desktop.

Also – can someone tell me why adobe recommend a 7200 rpm hard drive for dv editing yet Sony don’t for Vegas pro? Is it really necessary?

    Thanks for your help

    steve

Your computer will run AE ok…just not with Vegas open.
I dont know of 7200 internal drives for laptop. Many folks use external USB drives with laptops.

[Stephen Cordes] “Will the laptop run premiere pro?”

It should be ok for SD stuff.

There are 7200 RPM laptop-sized drives available, though they are not common. And of course, they cost more.
