    Hey guys,

I’m facing trouble using the AJA IO HD (latest firmware, latest drivers / v8.0) for an edit to tape (assemble edit) from Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 to a Sony DVW-A500P via SDI/RS422. Color bars are supposed to begin at 09:58:30:00, black at 09:59:30:00, program at 10:00:00:00. The tape is blackened with a TC starting at 09:58:20:00.

Using a Mac Book Pro (OS 10.6.6) and a Mac Pro (OS 10.6.7) the ETT begins just fine exactly at 09:58:30:00. But then the bars end too early and program also begins too early. It’s a matter of three frames (black starts at 09:59:29:22, program at 09:59:59:22). Before updating to the latest firmware it was just one frame with the Mac Book Pro. I used different pre-rendered FCP sequences, all Apple ProRes 422 PAL (HQ), always with the same result. In the FCP device controls I changed “LTC+VITC” to “LTC”, same result. I rebooted all devices (Macs, AJA, DVW), same result.

I think this problem is AJA IO HD related, as the ETT works absolutely fine with Blackmagic DeckLink SDI.

Does anybody have suggestions how to solve the problem? Thanks a lot!

I would suggest contacting AJA Technical Support for assistance. There are a several settings for Final Cut Pro, the Io HD and the VTR that can be reviewed to determine why you might be seeing an offset.

AJA Technical Support can be contacted via phone or email and the service is provided free of charge.

Yes, that’s my next step, thanks!

I just noticed that v8.1.2 is the latest driver, but after installing the offset only reduces to one frame. Thanks for any further help!
