I’m trying to come up with an efficient workflow to transfer large numbers of MXF clips to DVD with timecode, and so far I’m not totally happy with what I’ve come up with. First off, I’ll admit I’m still not completely familiar with all aspects of FCS2. I’ve found excellent tips and workflows in the past to get this mostly done, but the fact that I have lots of clips (raw footage from P2 camera) is complicating things.

I use Raylight to create .MOV alias clips named by user clip name, so all the files sort in the order they were shot. I like the idea of using them directly in Compressor, and I can apply the TC filter there as well, but then I have trouble in DVDSP, having to add 100+ paired audio and video clips to a track… one at a time… via dragging. And if you screw up, it’s a nightmare deleting something out of the middle.

Is there any way to have Compressor output a large movie instead of tens or hundreds of individual clips?

If not, is there a way to easily drag lots of audio/video clips into a single track in DVDSP? In order?

Or is there some other workflow I’m missing that would make this easier?

I used to import all my clips in FCP to apply the TC filter, but this requires outputting a self-contained movie, and I’d prefer to avoid the extra time and hefty chunk of disk space if possible. I believe you can send from FCP directly to Compressor but I’ve heard this results in much slower Compressor performance, is this correct?

    Any help appreciated!

Update – I can indeed drag a ton of audio OR video files into a the track timeline in DVDSP – however I have to drag audio and video separately… and the audio sync creeps.

It didn’t creep when I added the audio/video pairs individually… but if I do all video and then all audio, the audio is about 1 frame longer on every clip. With 130 clips, it’s a significant offset at the end of the track.
