Ok I just got my Tascam fw 1082 in the mail earlier today and have been trying to get it to work with FCP Studio for most of the night to no avail. I downloaded the latest driver 1.50, installed it with the board off and not plugged in. After the restart I turned it on and updated the firmware. Then i configured it via ?Audio Midi Setup” under “Utilities”. It is detected under “Midi Devices,” and under “Audio Device” I switched all the properties and default inputs and outputs for it. For the Control Panel for the FW 1082 i set the control protocol to “Mackie Control Emulation” then setup the”Core Audio” to “A 10-Input/4-Outout Sound Device.” Then under Final Cut i went to Tools –> Control Surfaces. I hit the “plus” and descovered the control surface. I did the same thing on Soundtrack Pro.

On Final Cut I opened the Audio Mixer and the control surface does nothing nor do the Transport Controls (play, stop, shuttle, etc). I tried it under Midi Ctrl and Computer and tried variations and reconfigurations of everything that i could think of. Nothing.

The control surface works fine as a monitor board, computer sounds, itunes, headphone jack and general sounds all work fine. I will be calling the Tascam tech support in the morning, but any advice in the mean time?

Ok after a quick call to Tech Support i found out that in FCP i need to have the Contol surface input and output set up to Control Port instead of Port 1.

It would be nice to hear back from you on how you like it? Do all the functions work… JS, transport buttons, etc.?
