I have a targe sequence from 3dstudio max. I did this so I would have the alpha channel so the object I modelled and animated would have a transparent background giving me the ability to composite it into a live action plate. Very basic. I was told that when I bring in the folder with the 100 targa frames that AE would notice this as an image sequence and play it as a video animation. Well this isnt happening, when I drag the folder that is holding the frames into the timeline it opens up all 100 still frames as layers. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks

Go into the folder with the numbered frames, click on the first one and you should see a check-box at the bottom saying something like “Treat as sequence” or “Footage” or something (sorry, not infront of AE). That tells AE not to bring them in individually but as footage.

Ok I imported the folder with the frames. I then clicked the first frame and see nothing. I control clicked it and i just get interpret footage stuff. Can I further help someone in getting this sequence to play?

    Hi,

In the Import file window after selecting your first file, right under the window that says “Import As Footage” you should check the “Targa Sequence” box (In your case) then hit OK.

In your AE project window you drag your sequence to the comp icon (Left to the trash button) and you are done.

    Salut.
