Not exactly a CatDV related question but certainly archive related and would fit the knowledgeable here. (CC needs a general archiving forum)

Lets say we have a large tape archive consisting of 1000’s of hours of SD and HD material and we want to digitize the entire archive, apart from the hit on disk space, would it best to take advantage of the high quality hardware converters such as blackmagic’s Teranex to upconvert the SD to HD (prores 422) during ingest?

The main advantage being that future edits can be more easily conformed and as we have to ingest the material anyway it cuts out that step further down the line.

I would value readers opinion’s on this.
