to reduce wear on my video equipment I’ve decided to look into getting a dvTape Deck. For the most part these are pretty expensive. I’m considering just getting a cheap (approx $400) dv video camera to serve this purpose instead. My question is, is there possibly any quality loss by capturing in such a way?
    Thanks for the help.

I agree with Borjis. If we would be talking about reproducing analoge video, depending of the player you would get a better ot worst output. But the best of the digital is that not matter with the equipement that you playa tape (as long as the machine works), you always get the same signal in your computer.
    Cheers,

I would be most concerned about tape eating as the inexpensive DV camera puts on some miles.
