Syncing video and audio
Hi, I’m using Vegas Pro 10. Camera is a HandyCam HD at highest quality (FH).
I need to get the best video/audio for a video tutorial. I tried an external mic with the camera but the auto-record-level raises the recording level during pauses. So I tried recording the audio on my Korg MR-1 as a WAV file. Sound quality is great.When I played the video on the camera and the audio on the MR-1 MANUALLY starting the both at the same time the video and audio was in perfect sync for all of the 60 min duration. Ok.
BUT (!) when I import the two to Vegas they go noticeably out of sync within about 10 mins!
Clearly one or both are being ‘stretched’. Why is this? How can I avoid it? (short of snipping the audio every 10 mins and re-aligning. The other option is to re-stretch/adjust the audio in Cubase. Can that be done in Vegas Pro?)
Is there a more reliable way of recording great voice audio for a video presentation?

Audio in a video stream is always 48 KHZ.
Odds are that your Korg records at 44.1 KHz
There’s also the question about the accuracy of the signal.

Yes it can.
Drop the events of the timeline.
Trim off any unwanted video and audio.
Sync them up at the start.
Go to the end, place your cursor at the end of the audio event, hold down the Ctrl key and drag it to the right (or left as the case may be) until the end points match.
Check the timeline periodically to ensure that things are in proper sync. -

Try turning off AGC (Audio Gain Compensation) on your camera and set the volume manually and that should solve all of your problems.

Yes, the recording was default at 44.1. That would explain it.
I shall change it to 48khz and that should do it. Plus make any adjustment as you showed.

John, my camera is a Sony HDR-SR12E. Alas, it looks like it has no manual level control setting.
