  • Syncing audio with Phantom shot footage

I’m about to embark on a project that we will shoot entirely using the Phantom camera. We will shoot 24fps and record sync sound. The current workflow involves using Metacorder to record audio. I am not sure if the Phantom is capable of generating or recording any audio or timecode data.

If it cannot generate or record timecode then what would the FCP post workflow involve in order to successfully and efficiently sync the audio?

The project will see a theatrical release . . .

The Phantom is a great camera – however it does not record audio.

” I am not sure if the Phantom is capable of generating or recording any audio or timecode data. “

in this instance the TC needs to generated by the audio device or a external source, the simplest way is to allow the Sound Guy generate the needed TC for simplicity

“If it cannot generate or record timecode then what would the FCP post workflow involve in order to successfully and efficiently sync the audio? “

then you go back to the stone age and manually sync the audio and video – use flashes on the footage and claps on the slate -on both the FRONT AND BACK of the shot to lock to.
