Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Sync and Link

    Hello Folks,

I am working on a Red Show using the ProRez work flow. And I am wondering if there is a way to carry the audio “scene and take” information that shows up in the logging notes across to the Linked and Synced with picture clips, so that I do not have to re-enter all that info ?

The scene and take info is brought in from the audio metadata from a Deva.

The Red ProRez files have no Scene and take metadata.

When I link synced audio and picture and drag the master clip back into a bin, the metadata goes “poof”. Why? and how do I not do that?

    moooo,
    Chris

When I’ve needed to add more info the Final Cut from an outside source, I’ve used batch lists.

Export batch list from bin containing merged clips.

    Import into Excel.

Open Audio data separately in Excel.

Sort both lists so they are in the same sort order (keeping header row from batch list info).

Copy and paste the audio data into unused columns in the batch list of matching takes.

Export as tab delimited text file.

Reimport the tab delimited text file as a batch list into a new bin in Final Cut.

    Reconnect.

It’s actually easier than it sounds.

Thanks Steven! I always forget to think about Excel. I’ll give it a go.
