  Syfy origami spot. how?

  Hello-
  I’m sure everyone has seen the Syfy spot with the logo that folds onto the screen like flipping origami. I would like to achieve this effect for fun and I was thinking it had to be expresso. Maybe mograph. It looks like their might be a few instances of the logo with the polygons of each doing something different. Some are unfolding, some are just turning on, some are flipping.

  One way I thought it was achieved was accessing the polygons one by one. Do the polygons of an object have an index?? Can I control object polygons via accessing an index number?

  I’ve already seen a tutorial of some squares unfolding somewhere online but it’s not really a tutorial more of an example scene (and an obtuse one at that). I would really like to get something simple in espresso from scratch, and I really want to avoid doing anything with ‘bones’ since it is not feasible for this type of thing.
  does anyone know how else it might be done?
