I think there was a time if you bought the 32GB cards, Sony wouldn’t charge for the firmware upgrade. Of course that doesn’t make the turnaround time from Sony any faster.

Are you saying you bought the EX1 NEW and it has old firmware? I’d exchange it for a newer camera. No authorized dealer should burden you by selling a camera with old firmware. That should have been off the shelf ages ago.

Return the camera and tell them they sold you an old camera with firmware incompatible with current Sony cards.
