    SXS in Express card slot?
    Update to current driver.

    https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcamexsite/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcamex-downloads-SxSDrivers.shtml

Ignore the wording on the page. It should take you to the current SxS driver. You may need to use something other than Safari to download it as well.

Thanks Mr. Seeman, but it did not improve. Still crashing on inserting the sxs card in Express card slot. I had updated other soft from sony just in case but I was up to date on all. I uninstalled and reinstalled with the new ones but to no change. Is there a preference I should delete?

Trying to prove my point, I took my son’s laptop about the same except he did not do the last apple update and all went well. So now I got my three days shooting on a couple of drives and I will try to have answers from apple. This was a java update and a security update.

How did you update to 10.6.8?
    Software Update can cause problems.

    Repair Disk Permissions
Go to Apple’s site and download OS 10.6.8 Combo Updater.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
    Install
    Repair Disk Permissions.
    Install Sony driver again.

Hi Craig, I have the same issues with my MacBook Pro after upgrading to OS 10.6.8. I repaired disk permissions, downloaded the update combo and reinstalled the SXS drivers exactly as you suggested and the problem persists. As long as I boot up with the SXS installed in the express card reader, everything is fine, but when I hot-swap the SXS cards, the system crashes. A semi-transparent grey screen moves down the page and instructs me to do a hard reboot. Interestingly, it only happens with the SXS cards. No problem with an MxR adapter and SDHC card.

Thanks for your normally spot-on suggestions, but this one didn’t work.

According to Sony, the only solutions are to stay with 10.6.7 or to upgrade to Lion (but that may bring other problems).
