  • Switching from P2 R-series to E-series – firmware upgrade needed on HPX-500 ?

I’m trying to find out if I need to upgrade my HPX500 when adding the E-series P2 cards.

Or does it work “out of the box” ? I don’t have the camera at hand – but I believe you can easily check firmware version and then I just have to google the page for downloading the firmware (onto an SD card) and update the camera (on external power of course).

You are correct that to upgrade the firmware on the HPX500 is done by SD card ( go to https://www.panasonic.com/broadcast to download firmware). I have had mine for 4 1/2 years and the last upgrade notice I got was a couple of years ago. When I bought the camera I got the R series cards but I have used E series cards and they have worked perfectly.
    Cheers, Philip

Thanks for the info, we’ve had otur camera for about that long, too.

Most likely I have the latest firmware, I think I’ve updated twice or so.
