  • Switching between HDV & DV projects causes digital audio noise

I’m trying to track down a problem that I happens when I start a new NTSC HDV project then swith to an entirely different project in NTSC DV. I lose all audio and get digital garbled noise.

I’ve tried closing down the HDV project before opening a DV project to no avail.
Reboots don’t fix anything. I use stock sequence and capture presets for each projects.
I don’t have any mixed media on any projects. I keep my HDV seperate from DV projects.

All my video/audio gets ingested and monitored thru a Sony HVR M15U. I removed the deck from the signal chain and still get digital noise and when I mean noise I mean “icepick in the eye” nasty noise.

No sample rates are changed within projects and no other devices are in the audio chain.
I’ve tried refreshing the deck and reboots with both computer and deck. I have all updates on FCP and system software and components.

My only work around is trashing prefs.
    Does anybody have similar problems?

    Mac Pro 8 Core
    10.4.10 8 gig Ram
    FCP 6.1
    After Effects CS3
