  • Switched from Cinewave to Kona- can’t play clips created on old system

Posted by Scott Allman on August 15, 2005 at 4:58 pm

    Hello,

I recently upgraded for a G4 to G5 and switched from Cinewave to Kona and have a lot of clips I created, with Cinewave, and saved and need to use in the new system. If I play the clips in the quicktime player all I get is a white screen. If I drag the clips into FCP all I get is black. What can I do to make things compatible. Is there a Cinewave codec that I can move to the new system from my old G4. If so what are the steps and where is it located and where so I put it in the new system.

    Thanks in advance,

    Scott Allman

Use the Kona 2Vuy codec for the seq settings and the cinewave files will play just fine.

There is NOT a preset for this, you must create a new Seq with these settings

    Gary,

Thanks for the reply. I am using Kona AJA I/O not Kona 2 and I’m looking at the sequence settings in FCP and not seeing anything that says Kona 2Vuy. Is it hidden somewhere or not available in Kona AJA I/O?

    Thanks again,

    Scott

    Hi-

The KONA and Io are two separate products. The KONA 2 does have the 2vuy codec and can play Cinewave files as Gary points out, but this is not included with the Io.
