Hi, I would like to ask you if you know how those twirls were made in After Effects, i want to recreate them identically.

In the video they’re above the christmas tree. The video is created in December 2006, so must be something easy, but i cant get it.

A particle system such as CC particle world with the emitter animated in that manner.

Can you please tell me how? I know the Cc particle world is used only for particles, not helix twisting

The emitter would be parented (with some horizontal distance between them) to a null that both rises and rotates along y-axis. The emitter emits particles as it goes. This creates a helix shape.

You can also animate the distance between the emitter and the null to get a tapering helix, etc.

    Hi Milos,

I forgot you can’t directly connect Particle World to a null, so I did the twirl with expressions. I can’t tell from the video what it is meant to look like, but this should get you started. Modify the expressions and other settings to taste.

Thanks for the effort, but this is not what i was looking for. I ended up with a solution of custom made paths to be followed by the Particular to clone the exact same effect.
