  • Swapping source footage won’t work

    Hi there,

I finished a complex 1,5 hours edit in fcp6 which feeds from a total of 3 x 2 hour long source clips (XDCAM codec). After I finished I decided that I had to make slight size adjustments to the source clips. I brought two of them in fcp, adjusted them the way I wanted and exported them again without recompressing.
I replaced the originals with those two clips and opened my original edit. Everything worked fine – no alert that footage is missing or the like.
When I played back the edit though I found that fcp was using completely different parts of the source footage, so that my edit was rendered completely useless.
So I brought my original source footage into the project and compared it to my newly created footage and the two pieces of footage matched perfectly. I compared them in ” Item properties” and everything was matching (reel nr, duration, codecs, format all perfectly the same).
The only thing which was different was the start, the end and the length in the timing window. I suspect that this must be the problem but one can’t change this information manually as far as I know.

    Can anybody help with this?

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Best

    Alex
