  • Swapping between AE and Premiere

    Hi,
We have several Decklink cards (Extreme, and Multibridge). We often have both AE and Premiere open at the same time. Usually when we minimize 1, the other can use the decklink to output to the NTSC monitor. Occasionally, when we minimize after effects, and then open Premiere, the timeline won’t play, and nothing is displayed on the NTSC monitor. It seems as thought Premiere has been locked out from the decklink. When we shut down AE, The card gets released, and we are fine. Is there any way to avoid this, so that we can keep both programs open? It seems if Premiere is open first, the card does release when we minimize AE?

Same problem here. Just post there to demonstrate that it is not occasional issue. We have got several Decklinked (HD PRO 4:4:4)systems with the same behaviour. Using latest drivers under XP, Adobe Production Studio. This problem is really annoying, especially when client sits behind you…

I would vote for a manual switcher app. That’s the way VT (Video Toaster) works and it was never a problem. My main issue is that Combustion won’t automatically release the Decklink when minimized but I get that same problem of the Premiere monitor popping up on the broadcast monitor while it is still minimized. The idea of automatic switching is nice but in reality it doesn’t work that well. For me at least.
