SVP 12 (Build 670) – Corrupt .veg file???
This is probably one of the weirdest (most frustrating) issues I’ve run up against with SVP to date. Here’s the scenario….
Editing a/v is strictly a hobby and I don’t consider myself a pro on any level. I’ve been working on a video project over the last couple of years and I’m actually getting ready to finish it up this week. This project has no less than 500+ AVI clips that I’ve used, along with some music. This is where the crap hit the fan…
I went to open the file tonight from the recently opened files list, and it said there was an ‘error’ and it could not open it. So, I went to the exact location of the .veg file and opened it. It ‘hung’ for a bit, but then said that “…av1 clip 001” could not be found. Now, stuff like this has happened before (like if I rearrange some files and organize some things), but THIS TIME it didn’t give me the option to search for it — it just asked if & what file I’d like to use as a replacement! And not only that, it did that for each and EVERY AVI CLIP that was in the project — over 500 clips!! As you know, usually if something’s missing I’ll search for it, then it’ll say that it found other clips in that same location, and then I can choose the option to just use that same location, etc. ANYWAY, before I went through that LONG process, I updated everything, re-started, etc….but with no success. I finally ended up going thru and pointing/clicking at each and every missing file.
SO, I have 2 questions.
1.) How do I use a .bak file?
2.) WTH happened!?!? And why didn’t SVP give me the option to use that folder location for the rest of the missing files????Thank you!!

One other thing you might try is opening the most recent ‘Autosave’ file which, as default is in the following directory :
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\12.0

Thanks for the quick reply! There are some autosave files from some smaller projects that I’ve done over the past 6 months, but absolutely nothing from my current large project. Isn’t that a bit strange??? Doesn’t anyone else have any sort of insight into this?

I can fix corrupted project files (*.veg) created in sony vegas. You only pay for the restored file project because I can fix some glitches. Corrupt project file you can send to me to gmail: (editroom.psf@gmail.com).
