SV Pro 10 Master FX for Concert Audio
I am constantly running into the problem of using my digital camera/recorder that doesn’t take high quality audio, yes I know you need the right tool/equip for the job but I’m a college student. The video is fine but I’ve messed with GoldWave for Audio Mastering and can’t find the happy medium (a friend recently reccomended Steinberg nuendo and Wavlab and will try those in the coming days). My problem is that the bass is often to over whelming, I always slide the master EQ db levels down to the yellows as the peak,I know that much. I am wondering if there are a any ideal plug-in’s and common corrections/settings that any of you have found consistent with recording live audio/concerts.

If the audio recording is poor to begin with, there is not much that you can do; especially if it is over modulated. My recommendation would be to buy a good audio recorder and record the audio separately.
If you have Vegas Pro 10 there is no need to buy Nuendo, or WaveLab, or any of that. Vegas already has a broad array of audio plug-ins like Graphic EQ, Parametric EQ, Paragraphic EQ, Graphic Dynamics, Multi-Band Dynamics, Wave Hammer, etc. I’m sure Nuendo and WaveLab have similar tools but if you don’t know how to use them, it doesn’t matter what you buy.
There is one mastering plug-in that I use that always improves any audio I throw at it and that’s iZotope Ozone 4. It has a nice set of presets that you can use as a starting point. You might want to download the trial and see if it can help.

At minimim, by a decent external mic. Camcorder mics notoriously sound bad with loud live bands. You may also need a 10db pad if your camera doesnt have manual audio settings. You can always turn up your audio if it’s a little too low but if it clips alot,you can’t fix that.
