    Hi,
I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 11 and I don’t often attempt to do anything too complex, but I’ve decided to shoot for the stars and produce a mini science fiction movie.
Is it possible to film a model space ship on a green screen and super impose it onto any environment?
Say for example, I film the river Thames then impose the space ship onto the recording. Is it possible, and would it look good? Ideally I want it to look like it is flying along the river, and also through space at a different point.

Any tips or advice would be great.

    Thanks for your time.

Yes, you can but it’s even easier to use a 3D program like DAZ Studio and import a 3D model of a space ship and animate it and render it with an alpha channel.

The key thing would be the lighting. You would need to use lights for your indoor shoot against the green screen that were balanced for daylight. Otherwise the in-door shot won’t match the out-door shot. Alternately, you could set the green screen up outside and shoot the model in daylight. Just make sure that the direction of the sun matches the background that you’re shooting. (hint: shooting in the same direction at the same time of day would help a lot)
