    Hi all,

I’ve run into a very strange problem. I needed to make a change to a file I was working on a few days prior. All I needed to do was render out an animation with venetian blinds effect animating out to alpha. I had rendered other iterations like this one just fine before. It renders fine, on play back on my desktop it looks fine, and when I drop the video back into After Effects it transitions out to alpha fine.

But when I upload it to frame.io or google drive, it just cuts off right before the transition to alpha. I tried uploading another file from the project that comes in on alpha and it looks odd too (a mask that is supposed to animate on as a circle, but it shows up as a square).

I’ve tried just putting the venetian blinds effect on a solid, rendering on alpha, and then bringing that video in and using it as a matte. Still doesn’t work when it is uploaded to frame.io or Drive. I sent the file to someone on Slack, and they were able to upload it to Drive and it worked just fine!

    -4444 alpha

    -Comp length is fine

    -restarted computer

-tried bringing in elements to a new file

    Computer:

High Sierra 10.13.6 (not allowed to update OS – work computer)

    Mac pro Late 2013

    Processor 3.5 GHz 6-core intel xeon E5

    Memory 32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

    Start Up disk: Mac HD

Graphics AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

I’m working off an external hard drive.

If it plays fine on your computer than it has to be an issue with upload? Frame.io has been having issues the past couple of days. https://status.frame.io/

If you are just uploading for approval can you fake it or upload an .mp4 with black background?

    Hi Chris,

It’s odd because it happens with both Frame.io and Drive. It worked when I Slacked it to someone and when they upload it it works fine. But work wants everything to be on Frame.io for review (which I could do with a black background just for review) , but need to have alpha so it can go on Drive for delivery.

Never had to upload the extra 8bit for review but maybe frame io converts the video to the point of stripping it down to just 24bits?

Are they using a different browser? If you upload it does it work fine for the other person, or is it just broken when you upload it?

It sounds like a browser or upload problem since it plays fine on your computer before upload. Try uploading it to Drive and then re-download and load it into AE, does it still work fine?
