super slow rendering

Well first off FCP can only use 4 GB or Ram. Anything more then that helps with the system & running other applications at the same time.

If you could give up some more info we may be able to provide a more complete answer.

What format video are you working with?
What are you using for your media drive?
How full is that hard drive?
Did you just recently move to Leopard?
If so did you do a clean install or run it as an upgrade?

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

all my work is in SD format which i render down in either intermediate codec or 422 hi-rez….

my harddrive i have my info on is actually pretty full but i still have 100 gigs left out of 750….

I have been using leopard since it came out and it was a clean install…. i got rid of everything…. i did a clean install of my FCP suite and my other software….

i have been reading other forums and threads on this issue and one of the solutions was to make sure in my User Prefs / Render Control … i should keep the quality at Normal and to keep the “Always Use Best Quality When Rendering Movies” unchecked……

i did exactly that…but still i have the same slow rendering…. i’ve tried different codecs and still the same thing..

im pretty confused and frustrated..
