Hi there. I’ve been running 1.5 on my desktop for several years, no problem. And, no prob with importing mpgs–it’s a supported format. Recently I loaded my 1.5 on to my Acer desktop replacement laptop, also running on Win XP, plenty of room and capacity. When I try to import mpgs into a new project, it says that it’s not supported. Makes no sense. Then when I tried to import an avi from a friend’s point and shoot, it said that the file had unsupported compression in it. Huh? I uninstalled and reinstalled from disk–same issue with both the mpgs (more of a concern) and the avi’s. Easily imported them to Flash, so I know there’s nothing wrong with the little avi files.

Any help with understanding why this would be happening and how to remedy it asap greatly appreciated!
