Intel Mac OS 10.5.8, FCP 5. Was working along on a lengthy project – which has been going fine – when all of a sudden sound vanished. I finally found the culprit – my Audio/Video Settings had somehow become reset for audio playback to be FireWire DV (all other settings are NTSC). I set this back to Built-in-Output and sound returned, but ever since, the video is lagging the audio just a hair, throughout the entire project.

I’ve rebooted FCP, my external drive and the Mac. Nothing.

    Thoughts?

Do you have External Video set to on in the view menu? If so, set it to off.

    Howdy Richard –

So I’ve been trying to export a 50 minute movie from Final Cut 5 to Compressor (3.0.5). Never had a problem before. Selecting the 90 minute option. Final Cut always quits at about 65000 frames (GRRR!).

Because this is a sudden problem, I’m wondering if it could have anything to do with the abrupt change in my preferences that happened the other day.

    Think this is possible?

Yes, I’ve been up all night trying to do this.

BTW, do you know my friend Simeon Pillich in LA? I notice you play bass. So does he…
