  • Sudden loss of audio output from Kona 2

    Hi, All

We’ve had a Kona 2 here for a couple of weeks now and this morning, I was working happily, when a “You must restart your computer now” error message appeared. After I restarted, there was no audio coming out of the G5.

I have to tell you, I’d seen something like this shortly after the Kona 2 was installed. Couldn’t figure it out. The Kona was selected in the System Prefs and in FCP’s A/V settings. Finally, Steve at AJA Tech Support identified the problem and told me to trash the FCP POA Cache pref.

So, today I checked the System Prefs and the FCP A/V settings and they were as they should be. So, trashed the FCP POA Cache prefs, confident that this would solve my problems. Nada! Still no audio. (And not just in FCP. I tried playing an mp3 in iTunes and got nothing but hiss.)

So it feels like a Kona 2 issue and there’s nothing in the Kona 2 control panel that addresses audio output.

The first time it happened, it took a couple of days figure out how to fix the problem. I don’t have that kind of time today–a client is coming in 3 hours! (And even if a client wasn’t coming, two incidents like this in five weeks does not inspire confidence in my Kona 2.)

Does this sound familiar to any of you more experienced Kona 2 users?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

    TIA.
