subtitles embedded in Quicktime file
Hi, I’ve been working with subtitling for the past year, but I’ve always produced DVD’s as my final product.
I have a new client that wants the subtitles embedded in a Quicktime file. I usually use .stl files (Spruce Technologies) in conjunction with DVD Studio Pro. But the only way I can think of embedding the subtitles into a Quicktime file is to enter them into text layers in Final Cut Pro. This would be slow and arduous.
Any other methods?
Would Annotation Edit be able to handle this?Thanks, Josh

Hey Jeremy, it looks like Quicktime could do what I need, but I don’t understand the last step involved. It says to ‘Import’ my text descriptor file into QT (I’m using QT Pro 7.4.1), but I don’t see an import option in the File Menu.
Have you ever combined a text descriptor with a QT movie?Thanks, Josh

No, I haven’t. Sorry. I was just trying to point you in the right direction. Try dragging it on the open movie.

MacCaption looks like a really good program, it’s pricy though…thanks for the link.
I tried the QT Text Tracker. It works really well, except that it doesn’t allow me to create a black outline around my subtitles. That’s the only drawback. But thanks for that idea too,
If anyone’s used Belle Nuit or Annotation Edit, let me know what you think.

I created subtitles in FCP and when I export to quicktime it seems the text or subtitles are making my footage skip or jump on or around the parts where I have the subtitles. Do you know why this may be happening? Should I try a different font? Or use Livetype? Thanks for your help
