Greetings, I have finished a video in FCP6. When I started I was using FCP 5, and had put name titles in using the lower 3rd. Towards the end of the project I upgraded to FCP 6. Text is generated in Boris. Now I want to add same language subtitles for the deaf, and I’m told that I should seek advice, as I know enough about FCP to know how much trouble I can get in muddling around.
What would be your suggestion as to best way to add subtitles, including over the name titles done in lower third? Any guidance is appreciated, though I do not have money to buy another program to do it, so it has to be done within FCP.
    Thanks, Laura Cooley

Are you referring to closed captioning? if so, there’s no easy/cheap/free way to do this withing FCP. You’ll have to send it out to a captioning service. Global Video in Chicago does good work with quick turnaround.
