I’m trying to Automate tracks with music so that they duck out when there is speaking. Those tracks are spread over eight channels, but I want to treat them as one at this stage, so I’ve made a submix. But for some reason, when I “Write” the submix, it doesn’t seem to take! I play it back and, nothing has happened! Not a single keyframe! The Automation works just fine on individual tracks, and even the Master! So why not the submix?? Is this normal?

I’m gonna try making two sequences: one with the speaking only, the other with the music only; and then mixing those in a third sequence.
