  Sub clipping from Source window

  I had been taught that to sub clip from the source window, you had to hold option (or alt) and drag the clip from the source monitor to your bin to create a sub clip in this manner, but I’ve noticed for a few versions of MC that I can simply drag the clip out of the source monitor into a bin and it will create a sub clip as well. Does anybody know if there is any difference between dragging a clip out versus hold option while dragging a clip out of the source monitor?
