Ok the stylize> glow is a frustrating effect for me.. sometimes it works perfect, other times it seems like i didnt even apply the effect. I have a clip of little animate circles with an alpha channel transparency and when I apply glow nothing changes I’ve tried tweaking the effect and tryin all sorts of different settings but I see little to no difference. Can anyone help me understand this effect a bit more?

Have you set it to “glow based on alpha channel”?

If that doesn’t help, please send us all your settings for the effect.
Also, what color are the circles?
    What color is the background?

Glow also depends on the colour of the background and the blur amount for visability. for example, to achieve something similar to the glow effect is the duplicate the layer(or pre-render it out depending on the complexity), add a quickblur, and make sure the blurred layer is above the original and use an ‘ADD’ layer mode. Then just adjust the transparency or add a ‘tint’ effect to color the glow.

    hope this helps.

I almost always do it this way.

I find glow a bit too slow, it’s probably based on Gaussian blur, not Fast blur.
