Hi! First time poster here and am looking for some help. I just purchased Vegas Movie Studio 9 PE and received it in the mail today. I had the trial version installed and the expiration period ran out. When I went to install the purchased version today I was prompted to remove the trial version via the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. I was able to do this successfully. I then installed the purchased version with seemingly no problems. Now when I launch the program I receive a message stating:

“Your Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Trial has Expired”.
“If you have already purchased the application, enter your serial number here and click Submit:”

At this point I enter the alpha-numeric serial number that came with the software and click submit. I then receive a message stating: “The key you entered is invalid”. This is a valid key I paid for. Why do I receive the error? I searched the Sony support site to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions for installing this software? Thanks in advance

Uninstall the version you paid for…(make sure all versions is
properly uninstalled from your PC), then go in the c:Directory
and delete all the sony vegas folders you see…then restart your
computer and then install your purchased version and see if
    things runs smoothly then.

Also make sure you are entering the key correctly. I assume it is on paper since this is the boxed version. Sometimes a zero (0) can look like an o (O) or an o like a zero. It really may be an incorrectly typed key.

Thanks for the responses. I uninstalled the software, deleted the directories and rebooted. I then re-installed Vegas and am experiencing the same results. Namely it says my serial # is invalid. I have double checked it also. Can anyone offer any more suggestions? I appreciate them. Thanks…..

I cant think of any other solution to recommend….
maybe you can try contacting customer support at Sony Creative
and see if they can assist you to sort out the serial number issue
    then.

    Hi there,

Did this problem ever get sorted? I have the exact same situation, a message saying ‘trial expired’ even though I’m entering a valid serial number from a new boxed version of Vegas.

Removing, rebooting and reinstalling doesn’t make any difference – I even removed some Sony entries in the Registry and that did nothing.
