    Hi gang

I am working on a Mac G5 with operating system 10.3.9 on After Effects version 7.0. My problem is that for the last two days, when I do a preview render it takes several minutes after I hit the escape button for the program to come back on line. If I force quite and re-start the program it gets hung up in initializing the interface for several minutes. Any ideas here on what to do to get this program back to working the way it did just a few days ago?.
Some additional information… it doesn’t matter what other programs I run at the same time. I have restarted the computer, and I have also run disk permissions.
ANY help would be deeply appreciated

There is something terrible wrong with one of your media files, most likely.
Start by turning off half of the layers in your comp, then the other half. Then half of the bad half.

Thanks for the great feed back guys

I found the problem and it was corrupt files called…

    YOURLOGINNAME/LIBRARY/PREFERENCES/ADOBE/AFTER EFFECTS/7.0/MODIFIEDWORKSPACES folder
    and
    YOURLOGINNAME/LIBRARY/PREFERENCES/AFTER EFFECTS/7.0/ORIGINALUSERWORKSPACES/ folder

Thanks again for your great ideas!

    David

I have the great fortune to work with one of the smartest people I have ever met… He just googled the phrase After Effects hangs up during start up and got the answer… He said that “sometimes you just get lucky”… It worked perfectly
