  • Stretch a group of still frame clips to fit

Is there any function in FCP to stretch a group of still frames to fit a desired length, such as a “fit to fill” e.g. I have 10 jpg images that are in my bin and they are all 3 seconds long. I want to put them into my timeline to fill 60 seconds. Right now I have to “do the math” and change all their durations for them to fit in the length I want.

That is the only way, although you can automate and set up the length of the still frame duration to be exactly what you want.

See the section on “Default Timing Options”

Thanks Jason. How about a way to select a group of clips in a bin and change all their durations to a new value. Maybe that would be another feature request. Another nice feature would be the ability to select a group of clips in the timeline and scale their durations (or out points) equally by dragging. I’m sure you’ve all been there, when you have a gap to fill and would like to scale several clips to fill it at one time.
